Tell Us Your Arsenal Story & Win!

El Capitan - Play & Win!

Diwali is here & as per the word, so is our contest! Here’s your chance to win a cool Cesc t-shirt..

Rules:

  • In about 500 words (or more), ‘Tell Us Your Arsenal Story‘!
  • It can be anything related to the team in ‘Red & White‘. Your favorite Arsenal moment/game/season, a tribute to The Professor himself, an ode to your favorite Gunner, something to do with the Highbury or the Emirates, anything really.
  • In short, tell us how exactly you fell in love with Arsenal. The precise moment you became a convert. The very instance you became a Gooner!

Whether it be the class of 1970-71, the thrill of ’89 or the godliness of 2003-04; each one has a special Arsenal moment. And then there are smaller incidents which make us fall in love with a football club for the very first time.

Those may include a perfect goal, a Tony Adams scoring against the Toffees, a Thierry Henry flicking Fabian Barthez, a Dennis Bergkamp doing a 360 against the Magpies, a Patrick Vieira taking on Roy Keane inside the tunnel, a Arsene Wenger turning blind in the post-match conference or a Eboue himself! Reasons may vary, but there’s always ‘that‘ moment which helps us pledge our allegiance to a particular football club.

To stand a chance to win the above t-shirt, just tell us yours! The best story gets it.

Top-3 entries will also be featured right here on 11G. Mail us your entries here: 11gunnerz@gmail.com with ‘My Arsenal Story’ as the subject.

Hey my name is Adam Martin…I’ve been supporting arsenal since 2002… the first game i saw was against blackburn when arsenal won 2 – 1.. when Bergkamp scored just before the half time and put arsenal up..
i love arsenal because of their game and attitude on the field.. they seem the kings of the field with “Red n White Army’ around them chanting!!

“BY FAR THE GREATEST TEAM THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN.. WE ARE THE ARSENAL..!! WE ARE THE ARSENAL.F.C”..!!

However arsene’s is the best manager.. he is the our french mafia.. who looks for a long run.. ” One Arsene Wenger..There is only one Arsene Wenger”
When they play at home in the red and white their passing of the ball gives a fright.. oh yes they are the mighty Arsenal..!!

    Gooner 4 life

Thanks for your story Adam; I remember watching that game as well. Infact season 2001-02 was my first.
Bergkamp was one of the prime reasons I fell in love with the Gunners!

  4. David Watson Says:

It was around 1966 I was taken to my first football match to see Man Utd at Highbury. The mancs had a great team Best, Charlton, Law etc. We had travelled up from Kent an adventure in its own right.
Before the game the Mancs fans ran riot running around the ground chased by police and Arsenal Fans, which for a 10 year old was pretty un nerving, and no great loss in these enlightened times. We then got beaten 4 Zip and we were luck to get zip, remember this was a period when the Gunners could not win a raffle.
But none of this mattered Highbury was superb with the look and feel of a cathedral the atmosphere was fantastic, surrounded by witty banter, most of which I didn’t understand. The whole thing was awe inspiring for a young man who has never forgotten those moments and that day, and who will never support anybody other than the gunners.

Ahh.. Awesome story David! Its always a pleasure to recount the good’ol days. The current crop of Gooners should consider themselves very lucky as they’ve witnessed & are witnessing a very successful team under Le Prof.

Things were not always the same & that’s why I tend to have more respect for supporters like you, who stuck with the team even when the chips were down.

Thanks for you ‘Arsenal story’, Up the Arse!

The first memories in football sending me back in ’94 when I when i was 5 years old. I can remember world championship and hov I fell asleep during the final match between Brazil and Italy … As a kid I was not too interested in football but the euphoria of the World and European championships has touched all and me … The next thing I remember is two years later, the European Championships in England, where I sympathized France, and still remember Youria Djorkaefa:) … Afterwards, I already started to attract football but I watched more Serbian representation than a some club team. Then came World Championship in France, where of course I still cheered for them from the very beginning and for the first time felt what it feels like to “your” team victory and win the trophy … After a few months I get my first computer and the first game for him … FIFA 99th .. When I played fifu for some reason I always took Arsenal and learned all their players have a nice voice of the commentator … Anelka, Parlour, Bergkamp, Overmars … And then it all began, I started to watch their games on TV when I’m god arrived, he collected newspaper articles about Arsenal and his players … Today, who had known me as I know that a big fan gunner. Ironically, my two best friends cheering for Man U, even my old cheering for Man U (when the derby, the house is a real war zone!

PS. Sry for my bad English 😦
